Christmas Day!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!

I hope you all had a great day!! My family had a great relaxing time with family. I wore my favorite Old Navy Red Fair Isle sweater and some jeans for comfort. I have pictures of trees and my parents' house and how it was decorated. It was less bling-y since my sister wasn't here- the first year without her. But its okay because on Dec. 27th we are all flying to Miami for 4 days. So excited about that! My sister and I are contemplating getting tattoos there. I woke up to SNOW!! In Texas?!! Its crazy.

So I hope you all enjoy yourself and your family. I'm watching the NBA today, eating and sleeping. Maybe later I will venture out and take pictures of the neighborhood since we are having a White Christmas!!

Christmas Eve Outfit for Church

So I got to sleep in on Sunday and was spoiled by my Dad who made me pancakes and bacon for breakfast!! I enjoyed it so much that I did the dishes for them while they ran errands AND cooked spaghetti and turkey sausage sauce for them for lunch, while I watched my Cowboys CHOKE against the Saints. I am not above believing that the refs at the end of the game cheated!! The Saints player did NOT have possession of the ball and therefore it was an incomplete pass!! I hate when I feel like the payers get cheated by refs who just want the game to end and want to go home...
Well anyway, I am going to church with the parents and am planning my outfit. I want to keep it cute but also comfy so this is what I've decided.
////
1. Old Navy Fair Isle Sleeveless Belted Cardigan - I bought it a few years back. It was 24.00

2. Forever 21 long sleeved white tee- 8.00

3. Black poly/cotton stretch tuxedo pants- I bought them at Ross four years ago for about 15.00

4. Black Old Navy Riding boots- Bought two years ago for about 20.00

I think its pretty cute, and comfy and the pants are really cute with the satin stripe down the side.

So while enjoying the Lord of the Rings marathon that was on TNT I was on Pinterest- drooling over the women's fashion ideas from Polyvore.com. That website had great ideas for fashion ideas and how to pair ideas together, but it is addictive and is going to make me go broke because everything is so cute!! So let me know what your plans for Christmas Eve were with your families- church, movies, Chinese food?? Hope you had a great time- I know I did!

The Last Work Day before Christmas!!

So today is the last work day before Christmas. With all this excitement looming, and people walk around in sugar comas at 9:30 am, WHY does it feel like this day is taking forever to end? Our students are in pajamas, unable to barely stand still for 10 seconds at a time, and I'm ready to pop in Happy Feet just to keep myself sane. Maybe its because of the anticipation of not having to see these people for at least the next week or so. I know that being a teacher, a female dominant area is not my cup of tea, and this estrogen-laden setting sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out. I plan on sleeping in (which probably wont happen because I'm used to getting up at 6 am) eating foods that have no nutritional value, and watching football and catching up on movies that I have missed. Sorry to you college football fans, but I could are less about Bowl games. Its weird- when I was in college, I loved the BCS and Rose Bowl and March Madness and all that- but when I got out of college, all of that fell to the waist side. Now its NBA or NFL all the way!!

I have finished all my shopping, and I'm pretty proud of myself for staying on budget this year. With the gift cards and presents from my Secret Santa that I won't use ( hello, I am a re-gifter and I'm not ashamed to say it!) I can give them out to people less fortunate who really need or want it. I'm at that point where giving truly is better to receive. I have been blessed and I really don't need anything (except a winning lottery ticket). So I have volunteered at a shelter, donated time and money, and am ready to accept whatever positive karma will be coming back to me- hello future husband out there, nice to meet you!

So on that note, I want to wish all of you a Safe and happy holiday season. Please remember to love each other, and keep Sandy Hook and Newtown, Conn. in your prayers. For us teachers, its just another reminder of how important we are, regardless of what others think.

Being Single During the Holidays Sucks

Being single stinks especially because you have so many family events to go to. Why bring someone I don't remotely see having a future with around the most important people in my life, just to appease myself? I have been on dates but the guy has turned out to either have children or not be interested in the family lifestyle that I am trying to attain. Having someone to go out with on special occasions is one thing for but an every day or weekend regular schedule, I just haven't found someone that peaks my interest.

Whats Your Favorite Sport??

So I have been to many professional sports events, from NFL to NBA games and I have to say, the NBA really has my personality in mind. Games are a great way for a girls night out. You enjoy getting ready with wearing cute teams shirts, you can always put some paint on your face, and there are always plenty of guys to chat with *hint hint* (why aren't more girls sports fans?) The Dallas Mavericks have great music, great food, and times really flies when you're in your seat. There are always clappers, noise makers or posters in your seats. (Who doesn't like free stuff? LOL!) But the NFL, you guys really have to catch up. Besides the crazy prices for a seat, you have the uncomfortable seats, the waaayyy too expensive food, and all those time outs and half time without entertainment. So eat beforehand!! I'm especially disappointed with the Cowboys. When I went to the Dallas Cowboys game two years ago, I stared at the Jumbo-tron so much that I have decided that I will definitely enjoy watching at home much  more- for free! So leave your comments below about your favorite sports and why.

New Years Plans? Eh...

So my friends and I are in our 30's, a little old for the clubbing, fancy dinner, or partying to celebrate the New Year. I will be flying home from Miami on December 30th, so I will probably have jet lag. My closest friend has to work until 10:30 pm on New Years Eve. I don't make plans on New Years Eve, as most of the time, I don't even stay up that late. I'm also trying to save up for school ( I am starting my Masters Degree in January) so blowing hundreds of dollars doesn't appeal to me. Maybe the day after when I have a day off of work I can relax and enjoy it, but as of now, the whole New Year will be spent relaxing with the family, and maybe going to the movies.

Are you guys making Resolutions? I don't like the idea of procrastinating until one day a year, it feels like a set up. I believe every day is a new day, and a new opportunity to make great choices. If you are making a resolution, what is it? Let me know below.

Have a safe and Happy new Year!

You're a Mean one, Mr. Grinch!!

It's the week before Christmas. You know what that means? NFL football and overeating!! I don't know if holidays are stressful or relaxing. Running around in a mall and standing in lines and driving to and from the airport to pick up relatives isn't my idea of fun. I usually get so tired that I can't enjoy anything! It doesn't help that its in the mid 60's, not at all cold here in Texas! I have the music pumping at work and at home to get me in the holiday mood, so that helps :)

With holiday work parties, Secret Santa's, and baking, I'm trying my hardest not to be a Grinch, but its dawning on me that I wish I was able to enjoy the holidays with my relatives who have moved away. My sister and I are extremely close. This will be the first Christmas we are apart, as she has moved away from the family. I will see her on December 27th when we all go to celebrate in Miami, so that helps me feel better. How does your family celebrate the holidays? and how do you get in the holiday spirit?

Leave your comments below, and spread your holiday cheer!!

Music is my Love!

So I have always been the type of person that has an eclectic musical taste. Living on the East Coast in New York and Virginia, I had the opportunity to be exposed to many types of music. There is a Indian, Asian, and Latin population, so music was blended -and in my eyes- very beautiful. From opera, bassanova, salsa, to classical, to Merengue, I was exposed to artists such as the Kumbia Kings, Chris Lee, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Bob Marley, Shan and Key Key.
So now that I am implanted in the Southwest, my tastes are revered as strange, which is okay with me. I choose to listen to music that reflects what I like so my top bands right now are Coldplay, The Wanted, Muse, Maroon 5 and Armik. I have a great affinity for Howard Shore, the composer of the Lord of the Rings movie scores, as well as Daft Punk, who was responsible for the Tron Legacy music.
In saying all of this I encourage each and every one of you to step outside of your box. If you have time, when you're driving in your car or on your computer, just hit the seek button and flip through the many stations available to you. You never know you could find a station or a group that you've never been aware of and it might introduce you to a new favorite band or group.

Music to me invokes emotions and feelings, almost like a spiritual experience. Harmonies and keys and chords can make you dance, cry, scream, love and feel. So why not surround yourself with it? I start and end my day with music and try to hum at work (if I can). So leave your favorite music bands and artists below. Who knows, you could introduce me to someone new!

Topics will include sports, clothes, food, make-up, books, movies, and of course relationships. So here's to everyone having a safe and Happy Holiday season, and let the games begin!!
